While I carried my little baby
her grand father would touch
my tummy and say
How is my
Little Twinkle Toes?
so from then on
Twinkle Toes
was Joanne’s nick
name.
Joanne was a dainty
girl
Who was very confident
And so advanced
for her age
hence a teacher who
taught Joanne
in her intermediate
years
held her back
as he told me, for her
own good
She was so bright and
confident
in ever thing she put her hands too
She had many school
friends
some are still friends
today
She loved to dress up in pretty frocks
With her hair in rollers
every day
Joanne,
I take today and to
say publicly
How much
On our way to town one very hot day
And as we passed our
Hilltop Dairy
We brought ice-creams
for our two little children
Robert and Joanne
We brought Robert a
Boysenberry ice-cream
And Joanne’s Father
asked Joanne
If she wanted a Girlsenberry
ice-cream
Well to see a little
girl’s face light up
Was great to see
but it was not to last
long
as there was no Girlsenberry
ice-cream
We then had a ice-cream
Made up with all of
the different flavors
And she knew that it
was not
A Girlsenberry ice-cream
So there was this little
girl with
an ice-cream in one
hand
and holding her dad’s
hand
with the other hand
while walking down into
town
screaming and crying
all the way
because there was no Girlsenberry
ice-cream.
